The Word &The Work

Time and chance happen TO all of us, but why do somethings happen FOR others and not FOR us? There seem to be two groups of people in our lives: The “happened to them” group and “happened for them” group. You can have all the talent and all the chances given to you but if YOU don’t move out of complacency, risk it all, take a chance, be vulnerable and daring, life will continue to happen “TO” you, maybe even around you, but not “FOR” you. So, if life is happening TO you, why don’t you decide to happen TO life?

God has given you all the requisite materials you need to build, so why aren’t you building?

God told Noah in Genesis 6:14 “ Make yourself an ark of gopher wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.” What did Noah do after this? He got to work! It is commonly thought that he worked and preached about the coming Great Flood for 120 years.

Our Creator has given us the spark of life. He has given us our innate abilities and callings. What He won’t do for you is the WORK. Your WORK has already come to you in the WORD: both the written Word (“Go forth and make disciples”) and the dreams and callings written on your heart.

The Word over your life (your calling, potential and who God wants to see you become) cannot live alone but you, a human with flaws, have to get after it!

Jesus said John 12:24, ESV: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit."

You need to dive IN to what God has called you to be, where He has called you to be and WHAT He has called you to be! The greatest lie people of faith tell themselves is “I’m just waiting on God”. No, you are waiting on something to happen TO you. But, I have observed in the Scriptures and in the day to day world, that what is meant FOR you will never happen TO unless you happen TO it.

The Word is already over your life. But, the Work is yours to do. Make the Work match the Word in you. Make your present habits match the future you are made for. Pair the Word with Work and WATCH what God will do in your faith, your finances, your prayer life and more.
